Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef will leave to Japan on an official invitation on Monday, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) said.

Commissioner Areef is answering an invitation from the Japanese National Police Agency, to strengthen relations between the two law enforcement bodies.

The MPS said Areef would especially inquire about any assistance, through technological and strategic support, in training Maldivian officers, that the agency could offer.

The Commissioner will also engage in discussions over other avenues of cooperation between them.
