Saudi cash gifts are a disgrace, says Nasheed
In a tweet on Monday, Nasheed said the MVR 500 gift was a 'disgrace'.
He commended RaajjeTV's integrity.

Opposition leader and former President Mohamed Nasheed has on Monday condemned Saudi Embassy’s cash ‘gifts’ to journalists, and commended the RaajjeTV journalists that declared the money instead of pocketing it.

In a tweet he sent out on Monday, Nasheed described the act as a disgrace.

All media personnel covering an event at the embassy on Sunday were given an envelope with MVR 500.

The RaajjeTV journalists only found out what was inside their envelope after leaving the embassy.
