PPM fences off Heyvalla rally in a bid to “contain” rally participants
Participants had left previous rallies after signing in

Ruling PPM had fenced off the Carnival area for tonight’s “Heyvalla” rally.

PPM said the rally will mark the official launch of Party’s candidates and handing them Party tickets for the upcoming Local Council Elections in April. The Party has revealed that over 500 candidates will contest on the Party ticket.

It has been rumored that, similar to other rallies held by ruling PPM, the attendance of participants will be taken. In the last “Habeys” rally held by the PPM, civil servants and employees of state owned corporations, had signed in for the rally and left afterwards. It is believed that the area had been fenced off to prevent this from happening again.

Recently, PPM’s President Yameen faction held a recruitment rally, with Ministers and heads of state owned corporations taking to the streets to bolster the Party number. They report that they had been able to recruit 11,000 members to the Party. All this comes at a time when increasing complaints had been made over forced recruitment to the Party.
