Online portal introduced to easily apply for social housing
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Aminath Athifa launched the online portal on Monday

The government has introduced an online portal called “Magey Hiyavehi” through which people can easily apply for social housing.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Aminath Athifa introduced the online portal at a ceremony at STELCO on Monday.

Speaking to journalists, state minister Ahmed Nasheed said the development of the portal is a three-month project involving the housing ministry and the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology.

Nasheed said the portal will allow people to apply for housing without having to wait in queues, even if they are outside the country.

People can apply for housing after registering at vehi.egov.mv. Applicants will be asked to verify their information.

A special development team for the portal has been assigned by the National Centre for Information Technology.

Ali Solih, the state minister at the science ministry, assured that the website will always be up no matter how heavy the traffic and that they will keep working on improving the portal.

A mobile app will be launched in the future as well.

The portal is in response to the previous long and disorderly queues that people had to wait in to submit their applications.
