Islands in the northern and central regions of Maldives are expected to have large swells breaking at their shores, high tides and coastal flooding, the NDMC (National Disaster Management Center) has warned.
The NDMC released warning on Wednesday cautioning residents to take safety measures, and even issued suggestions for precautions.
These include; using sand-filled sacks to shield homes from flooding, storing handheld items and other electronics away, and keeping items that may be carried away anchored.
“Citizens living in smaller islands or those that are more vulnerable to flooding should take additional steps to ensure safety” the NDMC said.
