Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will announce ballot results for Friday’s vote to elect a party chair.
Ballot boxes for the election were placed in seven locations throughout the capital, every inhabited island in the nation, and even former President Mohamed Nasheed had cast his vote from Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Voting was carried out from 2 to 6 PM on Friday, and polls are to be announced in a few hours, at 9 PM.
The position of Chairperson has been vacant since Ali Waheed resigned.
Lawyer Hassan Latheef, who had served as Youth Minister in President Nasheed’s cabinet is the sole candidate.
