Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched a campaign, titled “Aharenge Bank”, an extensive program of initiatives to support local communities.
The campaign was launched on Tuesday night, at a special ceremony held at Champa Central Hotel.
Under the program, the bank is to present a community-related initiative or event, during February.
As the first of such, BML invited interested parties to send in proposals for “Aharenge Bank Community Project”.
According to BML, parties are to send in proposals that will have a “lasting impact on the community,” and the best proposal stands a chance to win MVR 200,000.
Speaking at the ceremony, BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Andrew Healy said that the company, in its work to help local communities, had invested MVR 150 million in the past two years (MVR 300 million total).
Healy highlighted that the company had recently announced that it would double this investment in 2017, and invest MVR 300 million this year, creating 150 new jobs.
A number of well-known public figures attended Tuesday night’s ceremony, as well as BML customers. Local singer, Mariyam Unoosha serenaded those in attendance, with a live performance.
