Fenaka has passed to release MVR 50,000 for an exhibition organized by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
The funds were released for the “Heevaagi Kambalun” exhibition to be held form February 23rd to 27th. Fenaka Central Administration Department had sent a memo to the Finance and Accounts division to release the funds.
The memo, signed by Fenaka Regional Executive, Mohamed Areef was sent on January 18th, and stated that the decision was passed by the company’s executive committee. The memo had instructed Division to release the funds.
A letter sent by the President’s residence was attached with the memo.
State owned corporations have come under fire for issues like this. Accusations have been made on Aasandha corporation, rumored to have footed the bill for First Lady’s “Sadaqah Foundation” organized circumcision camp held in December.
The foundation had also was embroiled in a scandal involving dates provided by the Government of Saudi Arabia. Anti-Corruption Commission had investigated the scandal and decreed that there was no corruption in the case. The Commission had also found in favor of the Foundation, over accusations that funds donated to Islamic Ministry’s Waqf Fund had been taken over by the Foundation.
The President’s Office had consistently denied there was any wrong doing and misuse of state owned corporations by the Sadaqah Foundation, in spite of many accusations.
