President Yameen hesitant to meet journalists: Inthi
Yameen not fit to be President
Yameen scared of exposure by press

Member of Parliament for Maafannu North Constituency Imthiyaz Fahmy (Inthi) has stated that President Abdullah Yameen is hesitant to meet journalists.

Speaking in RaajjeTV’s “Mi Raees” program, Inthi said that President Yameen is hesitant to engage in a dialogue with the press over the situation of the nation, a direct contrast to former President Mohamed Nasheed.

He said President Yameen did this to prevent exposure to the press, noting that President Yameen was more than comfortable to voice his opinion in front of PPM members. Noting that President Yameen had spoken in a manner that supported theft and graft, Inthi said that President Yameen wholly believed that this should be emulated by the public.

Leveling severe criticism on the President, Inthi said Police, Army and the public should be clamoring for his resignation, as Yameen did not possess the moral grounds to remain as President.

Speaking in a campaign rally held for citizens of Dhiggaru, Mulah and Madduvaree islands held on the 21st of this month, President Yameen had said that corruption was intrinsic to human nature and as such there was room in the Government for corruption. He said all Governments have to work to minimize this.

His statements have come under fire, with opposition MDP issuing a statement condemning the speech. The statement said the President had sought out to normalize theft and graft.
