"Start-Up Weekend" is a programme initiated by international company Tech Star and will focus on educating beginners on the proper way to establish and kick-start a business.

Although this programme was opened for application to males, this year's program will see an 80% participation of females.

Participants will share thoughts and ideas with one another on how to establish businesses under different areas, and discuss ways in which they can be promoted, under this programme.

Ideas of participants will be discussed among the judging panel and the most productive three will be chosen by the judges.

Additionally, business experts will be joining the programme to educate participants and help them in creating inventive ideas.

The programme's marketing mentor Asra Naseem said that while the original fee for joining the programme is MVR 500, a special offer has been opened for submissions before the 21st of April at MVR 350.

Furthermore, this programme will see that ideas submitted by participants are discussed and there is a possibility of turning their inventive ideas into a reality as investors in the programme will invest in the ideas that impress them and possibly help in initiating a business based on them.

"Start-up weekend" programme is scheduled to proceed from the 4th till the 06th of May.
