Oooredoo Maldives has launched the eighth edition of their Mas Race, a night fishing competition they organize ahead of Ramadan.

The 2018 ‘Ooredoo Mas Race’ was launched at an event held in capital city Malé on Tuesday night, by deputy fisheries minister Shah Ismail.

Ooredoo Maldives said that government offices, resorts, and private-sector companies will be taking part in the three-stage competition this year.

In a show of social equality, Ooredoo Maldives has made it a requirement for teams participating in the competition this year to have at least one female member each.

The criteria necessary to compete and the prizes given out are yet to be revealed, though Ooredoo Maldives said this would be soon.

Ooredoo Maldives first held the Mas Race in 2009. It was held annually until 2016 and was not held last year either.
