Chandelier was opened in 1980, with the aim of importing various types of items which are important to locals.
Its managing director Hassan Hussain started out the company with a couple of family members.
After its establishment, it slowly started turning into a stationeries outlet, catering to students and offices.
Around 10 years ago, Chandelier Company Private Limited was established, and the company now has over 60 staff members.
Chandelier said it is ‘proud’ to be the only company in the country to carry a license to sell Chee Wah Corporation Berhad (CAMPAP) brand items. The Malaysian company is a premier location for foreign direct investments in the South-East Asia region.
It has since opened up a number of bookshops in the capital Malé City, as well as Addu City.
Chandelier says that its goal is to broaden its business ‘all across the country,’ and to provide its customers ‘with the best quality products’.
