‘Foreign policy to blame for mistrust from foreign countries’
Mistrust could affect visa policy with India
Yameen had vowed to sign FTA with India first

Foreign countries mistrust Maldives due to the Yameen administration’s foreign policy, says Former Foreign Minister Ahmed Naseem.

In an interview with RaajjeTV in Sri Lanka, Mr Naseem noted that India has changed its views of Maldives.

“Yameen has at different times made pledges with the Indian government. At one time, he said that if Maldives were to sign a Free Trade Agreeement, it would be with India first. The next day he’s signing an FTA with China. These things will affect the visa policy and other relations with India.”

Mr Naseem also noted the mismatch between what the current administration says and does.
