Maldives and Malaysia have signed four agreements to further develop bilateral relations between the two nations.
The agreements were signed on Wednesday morning in President’s Office and was attended by President Abdullah Yameen and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
The agreements signed by the two nations are;
- MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on the Establishment of the Maldives Cultural Centre in Malaysia. The agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
- MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Co-operation in the field of Fire Fighting and Rescue Training. The agreement was signed by Minister of Defence and National Security Adam Shareef and Malaysian Minister of Urban Wellbeing & Local Government Tan Sri Noh bin Haji Omar.
- MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education.The agreement was signed by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham and Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Seri Idris Bin Jusoh.
- MoU between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Malaysia on Co-operation in the Field of Health. The agreement was signed by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Malaysian Minister of Health Seri Subramaniam K V Sathasivam.
President’s Office reported that prior to the agreement signing, President Yameen and the Malaysian Prime Minister had a one-to-one meeting at the President’s Office. Official talks were also held between the government of Maldives and the government of Malaysia.
