Molhadhoo power station’s safe has been found after being stolen on Sunday night.
Island Council Member Ahmed Rifau said the safe was found forced open in the woods at 12:00 pm on Monday.
Mr Rifau said the power station has confirmed that the safe had MVR 38,000.
He also said that the safe had been kept inside a room with fingerprint access, and that it was too heavy to have been carried off by a single person.
It has been reported that an employee was on duty during the theft.
A man in the island has speculated that marks in the area suggests the safe was carried off on a pickup truck.
A suspect has been reportedly arrested, but this has not been confirmed by police.
