Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said a new Maldives government will be ‘forced’ to review the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China.
In a tweet on Friday, the opposition leader said the FTA was rushed through parliament.
The FTA with China was unlawfully rushed through parliament. Beijing should understand that a new Gov. will be forced to review it.

In an earlier audio speech submitted to Youtube, Nasheed compared the FTA to Maldives becoming a British protectorate in 1887.
Maldives signed the controversial agreement in early December.
President Abdulla Yameen has also recently visited China and signed 12 agreement to establish ties between the two nations.
