Former President Mohamed Nasheed has expressed his confidence of the opposition coalition parties’ ability to field a single candidate.
In an exclusive interview with RaajjeTV, Nasheed said it’s still not too late when considering the time it took for Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to field their candidate in 2008 and in 2013.
Nasheed said it is critical to hold a fair and transparent election, and that within three months we will see crucial assistance from foreign organizations to meet that goal.
“I believe that the people are dissatisfied with Yameen’s rule. And so the election needs to be fair in order to get the result that people want.”
“Foreign organizations have power over the Maldives government and the Elections Commission. They will help bring about a fair election.”
