A nation needs to have a sense of justice in order to protect the rights of citizens, says Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam.
At a rally held by the opposition on Monday night, MP Rozaina said human rights can only be protected if the courts serve justice and NGOs fulfill their responsibilities.
Rozaina said the current administration has released statements on the progress of human rights in Maldives, but that state institutions have failed to uphold those rights.
She also condemned the judiciary, the parliament, and NGO's for failing to fulfill their responsibilities.
Meanwhile, in a public message to mark International Human Rights Day on December 10, HRCM's President Aminath Enas noted the various accomplishments made this year, to improve the rights of Maldivians.
