The government’s action plan on human rights will bring in landmark changes to the status of people’s rights in the Maldives, said Gender Minister Zenysha Shaheed Zaki.
Minister Zenysha said this while speaking during an event held at the Dharubaaruge in capital city Malé to commemorate the international day for human rights on Sunday.
The minister said at the event that the government’s action plan focuses on developing the rights of people in 14 industries, and across political, social, economic, and cultural spheres.
Zenysha said that this would ‘further supplement the government’s already existing efforts’ to ensure that all residents of the country received the rights guaranteed to them in the constitution.
The government had conferred certificates and memorabilia to the Human Rights Commission and thirty other individuals and institutions that have worked for human rights and supported the commission.
