The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has said foreign vessels have been damaged and set adrift into Maldivian territory due to Cyclone Ockhi.
The defense force also warned of wood and other debris floating in the ocean.
MNDF stated that they have received reports from the Sri Lankan embassy that 30 of their fishing boats are floating adrift in the north and north-west.
Indian authorities have also reported that 37 Indian vessels are in the Maldivian region, stated MNDF.
The Coast Guard have urged the public to call their toll-free number 191 if they see a vessel in distress.
