Galolhu South constituency MP Ahmed Mahloof's father, Mohamed Hassaan, has been released from police custody.
He was released on Saturday evening 'with conditions', after being presented to Criminal Court for his remand hearing.
He was arrested on Friday, hours after being summoned to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) allegedly 'for praying against government officials'.
According to his arrest warrant, Hassaan was charged with attempted sexual solicitation. However, police on Saturday said that the allegations of 'class three' misdemeanor was 'due to a mistake in the database'.
The opposition lawmaker's father is charged under Article 613 and 617, which involved the unlicensed conducting of a business and criticizing Islam, respectively.
