ACC concludes probe into claims by Mayor Shifa being offered millions 'to change sides', says no corruption
In a tweet sent out on October 18, the Malé City mayor claimed to have received an offer, in millions, 'to change sides'
ACC launched the investigation on its own accord

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has concluded its probe into a tweet sent out by Malé City Mayor Shifa Mohamed, claiming to have been offered million, to change parties.

ACC launched the investigation on its own accord, after seeing reports on news outlets.

In a tweet sent out on October 18, the Malé City mayor claimed to have received an offer, in millions, 'to change sides'.

While she was questioned by ACC, Shifa had told them that she was not aware of any news outlets running such a story, highlighting that she was not interviewed by any journalists over the matter.

She told the ACC that the reason she sent out such a tweet is 'to create awareness' due to the increased number of such issues. Shifa added that it was 'a line from a story' that she is writing.

Furthermore, Shifa told ACC that she intends to publish 'part two' of the story, and that she has previously tweeted about various other such issues, in order to create awareness.

Hence, ACC concluded that there was no corruption in the matter.
