Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Deputy Leader Mohamed Shifaz has said there were no companies or agencies associated with the Government that are not mired in corruption.
Speaking in RaajjeTV’s Fala Surukhee program, Shifaz said that incumbent President Abdullah Yameen’s focus was on strengthening his hold on an autocratic regime and had failed to keep the economy in check.
The status of the economy is clear to all, Shifaz said. The millions collected as taxes from public, he said, was in question as there was no disclosure.
He further said Members of Parliament were jailed and stripped from their seats for raising their voices against the corruption of the Government. This, he said, was further proof that the President had lost the clear majority status they previously enjoyed.
