Govt. wants to make Thinadhoo uninhabited for a second time: Shahid
Strongly criticized Govt. policies
Male’ lacks resources
Govt. wants to clear out Thinadhoo

The incumbent Government wants to clear out and make Thinadhoo island an uninhabited island, says Henveyru North Constituency MP Abdullah Shahid.

Speaking in the joint opposition rally held in Thinadhoo island, MP Shahid said while the Government was calling for all to migrate to Male’, Male’ lacked resources. He added this policy was being enforced to take over the rich resources of those islands for economic gain for those currently in power.

The Parliamentarian urged citizens not to give into this. MP Shahid said Huvadhoo atoll was the largest natural atoll and trove of natural resources. He said this administration wished to clear out the atoll and the island for a second time.

MP Shahid strongly criticized the Government. He said under the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed, 1500 housing units were to be created in the south but this administration had switched these to other areas. Most of the housing units being opened now were initially started under the previous administration.

MP Shahid had delivered most of his speech in Huvadhoo dialect.
