Former Parliamentarian for Madaveli Constituency Mohamed Nazim has pledged to release all politicians and 1,700 individuals jailed on trumped up charges.
Speaking in the joint opposition rally in Thinadhoo island in Gaaf Alif Atoll, he said they had begun the reform movement under difficult circumstances. He said this was the same situation when reformists elected former president Mohamed Nasheed to head the nation. He added that Nasheed had always argued for ethical and honorable life and livelihood for youth of the nation.
Noting that the Nasheed administration had a very limited time in power, Nazim said the development in that period was thankfully received by citizens of this atoll.
Nazim had also thanked Thinadhoo North Constituency MP Saudhullah Hilmy for his service to the Constituency. MP Hilmy was stripped from his seat following the controversial Supreme Court ruling. He urged MP Hilmy to remain steadfast.
He added that incumbent President Yameen cannot hope to claim Huvadhoo atoll as his stronghold.
