The Maldives parliament will vote on next year's State Budget on Wednesday.
A parliament sitting is scheduled for Wednesday, and the vote on the 2018 State Budget is the only item on agenda.
The government's proposed MVR 27.9 billion budget was passed by the parliament's budget review committee on Monday. All MPs who took part in Monday's meeting had unanimously voted to pass the budget; opposition lawmakers had boycotted the meeting, over lack of time given to deliberate on the recommendations by the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and the Auditor General.
While it was passed with minor amendments, there will be no change to the total sum proposed.
The record MVR 27.9 billion budget is over a billion more than last year's MVR 26.7 billion.
