The victor of 2018’s presidential elections are now very clear and incumbent President Abdulla Yameen will realize it, said opposition MP Rozaina Adam.
MP Rozaina said this while speaking to RaajjeTV, adding that the government has acted ‘loosely’ when adhering to the constitution.
The parliamentarian spoke about the proposed state budget for 2018 and said that opposition parliamentarians were not given equal opportunity to speak.
She further said criticized Finance Minister Ahmed Munavvar for his comments about parliamentarians that refused to support the budget having development projects in their constituencies slashed.
MP Rozaina went on to say that while the government is comfortable taking out large sums as loans, there is no definitive procedure to levying income tax.
She had also contested President Yameen’s claim that the government had created 100,000 new jobs in the country, saying that this amount is far greater than the amount of unemployed people in the country and therefore ‘difficult to believe’.
