President of Lhaviyani atoll council, Mohamed Hussain, has said that his suspension was the result of his work to stop the unlawful activities being conducted within the council.
Noting that there are a number of unlawful activities being conducted within the council, Hussain said that his work to bring a stop to this had led to "baseless accusations" being filed against him at the Local Governance Authority (LGA).
Denying the allegations against him, Hussain said that it "will be proven one day, that these are baseless accusations".
RaajjeMV understands that the suspension came after Hussain decided to take action against some council members and staff with low attendances and those conducting unlawful activities.
Mohamed Hussain was elected to Lhaviyani atoll council under a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket.
