RaajjeMV understands that Maldives National University (MNU) is to disband the Faculty of Shariah and Law (FSL).
RaajjeMV also understands that University’s Vice Chancellor Fawaz Shareef had met the Dean of FSL to brief regarding the change. MNU Business School Dean had also attended this meeting.
A senior official of FSL reported to RaajjeMV that Law will become a part of the School of Business, while Shariah aspect will become part of Islamic Faculty. Therefore, Shariah and Law students will have to complete their semesters from two faculties.
RaajjeMV can also confirm that a meeting of MNU Council will be held on Tuesday, where the Council will deliberate on this as an emergency motion. If the Council can come to a consensus, then FSL will be disbanded.
Around 300 students currently study various programs under FSL.
