Joint Opposition expresses concern over Adeeb’s medical status
Adeeb has not been shown to the same doctor twice
Govt. must take responsibility for Abdul Rasheed’s death

The joint opposition parties have expressed their concern over negligence in the medical treatment for former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.

Speaking in the press conference held in Maafannu Kunooz, Maafannu North Constituency MP Imthiyaz Fahmy noted that Adeeb was not consulted by the same doctor twice. This, he said was a clear indication the Government wished to conceal the truth when it came to Adeeb’s medical treatment.

He noted the family of the former Vice President had alerted on the authorities’ attempts to administer an injection under dubious circumstances.

MP Imthiyaz also highlighted on the increasing number of deaths of inmates, under suspicious circumstances, including the death of Abdul Rasheed. He said the Government must accept responsibility for the death.

Referring to the Government’s strategy of selling state resources at discount prices, MP Imthiyaz noted this will be investigated under a coalition Government.

He added the status of the nation was in dire circumstances. As such, he noted that while earnings to Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) had dipped by 10 percent, the number of destitute had increased by 31 percent.
