RaajjeTV staff sends appeals to Broadcom President Shahyb
Penalized station by MVR 500,000 last week
Total penalties amount to MVR 1.2 million
Most of Broadcom closely worked with First Lady

The staff of RaajjeTV has delivered an appeal to the President of Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) Mohamed Shahyb.

All the staff of the station had contacted Shahyb via SMS and calls throughout Sunday. The appeal called on Shahyb to cease the illegal measures imposed by Broadcasting Commission and to carry out their mandate justly and fairly. If they fail in this, the appeal called on the Commission members to resign.

The appeal will be carried out from 8am to 8pm on Sunday.

It was initiated the Commission had failed to be impartial in enacting measures on broadcasters and for unjustly penalizing the station three times. The appeal also intends to highlight the observed bias of the Commission.

The Commission had come under severe criticism for their continued active participation in government aligned political activities.

Broadcom had penalized RaajjeTV first by MVR 200,000, then by MVR 1 million and latest by MVR 500,000.
