MP Ismail’s warning must be investigated: Joint Opposition
Calling for destruction of a Party is dangerous
Cannot call for illegal activities even in Parliament floor

Joint Opposition parties have stated that the warning given by Hoarafushi Constituency MP Mohamed Ismail have to be investigated by Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Speaking in a press conference in Tuesday, Maduvvari Constituency MP Mohamed Ameeth said the calls to destroy a political party was a dangerous one and tantamount to encouraging terrorism.

MP Ameeth added it was deeply concerning that an MP had spoken such statements in the Parliament floor and that Commissions and Independent Institutions were silent on this. He had condemned the inaction and called on state institutions to investigate it.

MP Ismail had previously confessed in the Parliament that he had physically distributed the funds from the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) graft. MP Ameeth had questioned on why this was still not investigated.

MP Ameeth added that Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) had acted outside of their legal ambit in their eagerness to penalize RaajjeTV.

The Parliamentarian had also questioned why MBC had determined what was a risk to national security, instead of MNDF.

MP Ameeth had also called on authorities to investigate the sudden death of Abdul Rasheed, while under care of Maldives Correctional Service.

The Parliamentarian added there was no semblance of statehood in the government today but said there will be a day when injustices will be addressed.
