Any sittings of the Parliament chaired by Fuvahmulah South Constitunecy MP as the Speaker is unconstitutional, says former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
All sittings of @mvpeoplesmajlis chaired by someone who has lost the confidence of majority of MPs would clearly be unconstitutional

He made the statement in a tweet posted on Monday.
Opposition Members of Parliament had sent in the no confidence motion on Speaker Maseeh in the previous setting of the Parliament. President Maumoon’s son and Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon had spearheaded the motion. The motion had garnered the signatures of 46 MPs; a clear majority of the Parliament.
In spite of this, the Speaker had not tabled the issue for vote.
Due to this, the opposition had stressed that any sittings with Maseeh as the Speaker cannot be valid.
The former President is one of the most vocal opponent of the present Government.
