Members of the Yameen faction of the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) have beefed up public relations activities in light of the resolution passed by European Union Parliament.
The members of the Party, currently in Europe, met the UN Human Rights chief and explained the current situation in the Maldives. The MPs had also met the senior representatives at UN and heads of missions in Geneva, Switzerland.
RaajjeMV understands that meetings were held with representatives of Singapore, United States and Saudi Arabia. It is unclear they had been able to meet representatives of EU nations.
Experts agree that even though meetings were held, the situation was self-explanatory and there was nothing more PPM MPs could add.
The Government of Maldives has in the past attempted to paint a positive picture of the relations with EU.
