Maldives Customs Service has denied rumors that items used in gambling have been released by the Service.
A statement released on Wednesday said the rumors that the service had made such an authorization were baseless and unfounded. The statement added that the Service had even in past rejected such imports.
It also noted that all imports to and exports from the Maldives strictly adhered the laws and regulations relating to Customs Act.
Details of items, allegedly brought for Robinson Club Maldives Resort, had surfaced on social media. The details show that bingo play cards, poker table world series, a black jack table, rummy and ring toss are among the shipment.
RaajjeMV understands that the shipment’s customs declaration form number is R38712. The items are currently in MPL yard and were brought in on September 25th.
Opening casinos in either inhabited or resorts is strictly banned in the Maldives and is a criminal offense.
