Maldives must have a leader who can take action on corruption: Saeed
Accused opposition of corruption, injustice, cruelty
MP Saud must seek forgiveness from Constituents

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed says that Maldives must have a leader capable of taking action over massive million Rufiyaa graft.

Speaking in the campaign rally held in Vilingili island in Gaaf Alif Atoll, the Minister reflected on the pitfalls of selective justice, noting that it was discrimination between citizens. Therefore, he said that Maldives must have a leader who is more than capable of implementing rule of law when confronted with massive cases of graft.

Saeed said incumbent President Abdullah Yameen was such a leader and accused the opposition of carrying out unjust and corrupt activities.

The Minister said President Abdullah Yameen was a resilient leader, capable of facing the challenges from the international community.

Minister Saeed also criticized former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, stating that the development of his 30-year reign was insufficient.

He had further criticized the Parliamentarian for the Vilingili Constituency, Saud Hussain. Saud had been stripped from his seat by the Elections Commission (EC). Referring to the Parliamentarians decision to shift allegiances to the opposition, Minister Saeed said MP Saud must seek forgiveness from his Constituents. The decision to switch allegiances, he said, was a cowardly one.

Minister Saeed said the role of the Parliamentarians was to provide assistance to the Government to develop their Constituencies.
