The parliament’s government oversight committee is to convene on Wednesday to discuss concerns raised by recipients of flats over the Housing Ministry’s tentative list.

The case was forwarded for discussion in the committee by MP Rozaina Adam, MP Mohamed Falaah, and MP Ali Hussain.

The parliamentarians have claimed that the Housing Ministry’s tentative list has unacceptable discrepancies and questioned the transparency of the process under which flats have been allocated.

The case further claims that the ministry’s process and criteria under which points were given to applicants needs to be made clear to the committee.

Several applicants for flats had taken to social networking platforms to criticize the list, as it had not revealed the names of recipients.

Further, there have also been reports that known acquaintances of First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim had contacted some of the recipients.

In a press conference earlier this week, Housing Minister Mohamed Muizzu said that the tentative list will be subject to changes and that the names of recipients was omitted in order to maintain their privacy.

The committee meeting has been scheduled for 10:30 am.
