Investigation underway into five high court judges
JSC has summoned five High Court judges including Mohamed Faisal, Hussain Mazeed, Fathimath Faruheeza, Mohamed Niyaz, and Dheebanaz Fahmy for investigation
The investigations have raised concerns about pressure on the judiciary, with rumors that some judges including experienced JSC member Niyaz may be pushed to retire
RaajjeMV’s attempts to obtain a comment from JSC were to no avail

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has launched an investigation into five members of the 11-judge High Court, though the commission has made no official announcement.

RaajjeMV’s attempts to obtain a comment from JSC were to no avail.

However, RaajjeMV understands that the cases under review involve Judge Mohamed Faisal, Judge Hussain Mazeed, Judge Fathimath Faruheeza, Judge Mohamed Niyaz, and Judge Dheebanaz Fahmy.

JSC has summoned the judges and issued notices requiring their appearance before the commission.

The move has prompted concerns from various parties, who view the investigations as an effort to exert pressure on the judiciary. Rumors have also circulated that some judges are being pushed to retire. Among them is Judge Mohamed Niyaz, one of the High Court’s most experienced members and a sitting member of JSC, who is rumored to have decided to step down.

JSC had previously investigated and dismissed Supreme Court judges, and four of the seven current members of the Supreme Court bench were appointed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
