President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who is known for his exceptional interest in ceremonial events, attended a handover ceremony for six water drainage pumps alongside several cabinet ministers.

The pumps were donated by China Machinery Engineering Group Corporation Limited (CMEC), and the official handover ceremony took place at Hulhumalé Central Park on Monday. Upon his arrival, Muizzu was welcomed by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib.

CMEC was represented at the ceremony at the Deputy General Manager level. The company’s Deputy General Manager, Liu Xiaoda, officially handed over the pumps, which were received on behalf of the Maldivian government by Minister of Defense Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon. The donated equipment is intended for use in the Greater Malé Region (GMR).

The event was attended by several cabinet ministers, the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, and representatives of CMEC.

Observers have noted that Muizzu frequently participates in ceremonial events, with his record including numerous appearances at inaugurations of ATMs installed by the Bank of Maldives (BML) across various islands.
