Bollywood actor Amitabh Bahchan has cancelled his trip to the Maldives, a reliable source has told RaajjeMV.
The megastar, who was appointed ‘Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis’ in the South-Eastern region, was to arrive in the Maldives on Thursday to participate in the seventieth Regional Committee session of World Health Organization (WHO) South-East Asia Region.
A number of Maldivians had taken to social media within the past week, including politicians and parliamentarians, calling on Bahchan to cancel his visit to the country given its tense political situation.

JP Nadda, the Indian Minister of health and Family Welfare, had also announced that he would participate in the WHO session.
Health Secretary PK Mishra is representing the Indian government at the session currently, where a total of 11 countries are participating.
The local Health Ministry had not responded to calls at the time of publishing.
