State Trading Organisation (STO) has increased the prices of diesel and petrol.

The company said the changes were brought due to rising global prices. As such, an extra 20 laari will be charged from a diesel litre and 30 laari will be charged more from each petrol litre.

With this change, a litre of diesel will now be sold for MVR 8.64 and a litre of petrol will be sold for MVR 8.95.

Currently, a barrel of fuel costs US$ 53 in the global market.
