Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the Ministry is not responsible for any sewage issues in the capital Malé City City.
In a tweet sent out on Sunday evening, the Minister said that it is "interesting" that a number of people "think that the Housing Ministry is responsible for solving sewerage issues," adding that it does not have the mandate to do so.

Muizzu's comments come after he received huge criticism from the public following a sewer leakage near Orchid Magu on Sunday afternoon.
While the Minister's tweet does not mention the institution responsible, according to how they are allocated, the responsibility falls on the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
