Maldives crowned champions of South Asian Super Cup 2025!
This triumph not only marks a return to regional football glory but also adds another proud chapter to the rich history of Maldivian football.

It’s a moment of celebration for Maldivian football fans as the Maldives has clinched the South Asian Super Cup 2025, defeating Sri Lanka with an aggregate score of 4-1 over two thrilling legs.

The first leg saw a dominant performance from the Maldives, who swept past Sri Lanka with a commanding 3-0 victory. Heading into the second leg with confidence, the team needed only to hold their ground, and they did just that.

The second leg, held at the historic Racecourse Stadium in Colombo, ended in a 1-1 draw, sealing the Maldives’ path to the trophy. The match began with both sides locked in a tight battle, with the first half ending goalless despite some promising chances.

But the breakthrough came in the 67th minute, when Naaiz “Dhaadhu” Hassan found the net in classic striker’s fashion. A powerful header from Feydhoo Ibbe rattled the crossbar, and Dhaadhu was perfectly placed to slot in the rebound, sending Maldivian fans into celebration!

Goalkeeper Faisal was another standout, confidently guarding the net and keeping Sri Lanka at bay with several crucial saves. Though Sri Lanka managed to equalize in the dying moments of stoppage time, thanks to a sharp finish from striker Kelat, it was too little, too late.

With this victory, the Maldives lifts a major football trophy for the first time in seven years, a sweet reward for the team and its supporters. This triumph not only marks a return to regional football glory but also adds another proud chapter to the rich history of Maldivian football.
