MP for Central Maafannu constituency Asma Rasheed has disclosed that she does not own any property or house under her name, according to her recently submitted financial statement.
The financial report, published by the People’s Majlis, shows that MP Asma earned an annual income of MVR 973,830. In addition to this, she received MVR 1,113,600 in dividends and profits from company and partnership shares.
According to the statement, MP Asma holds MVR 81,152.50 in her personal account at the Bank of Ceylon's Malé branch. She also has outstanding balances on two credit cards: MVR 64,621 on a BML Rufiyaa credit card and USD 9,395 on a dollar credit card.
The disclosure notes that the lawmaker has no outstanding loans or debts. It also confirms that she has not received any monetary gifts, property, items for personal use, or resources from well-wishers. Further, the report states she does not own any land, buildings, apartments, or houses, either in the Maldives or abroad.
However, the Star Cloud building on Majeedhee Magu, which houses BML dollar ATMs and several government offices, is identified as a family property belonging to MP Asma’s family. In addition to this, a plot of land in M. Kothanmaage, previously registered under MP Asma and her family members, was sold last year for MVR 19 million.
