Summons have been issued on Galolhu South Constituency MP Ahmed Mahloof.
The MP has been ordered to present himself at Maldives Police Service (MPS) headquarters at 2000hrs on Sunday.
The summons was issued hours after he was freed from Police custody on Friday. It said that MP Mahloof was being summoned over his refusal to cooperate with Police officers’ orders issued on participants of the rally carried out by the opposition near the Criminal Court. MP Mahloof was arrested just after midnight.
After he was freed from Police custody, MP Mahloof had denied the allegations made by Police, claiming that this was all intimidation.
‘This is all done to assert majority of the Parliament by use of Police, the very majority they lost when 45 MPs signed the [no confidence motion on Speaker Abdullah Maseeh] vote,’ he said.
The verdict on MP Qasim, he said was part of the efforts to regain back control of the Parliament. Mahloof remained defiant, stating the opposition will not cease their efforts.
