Kimbidhoo Constituency MP Abdullah Riyaz has been summoned to Maldives Police Service (MPS).

He was summoned at around 2245hrs on Thursday.

MPS said that even though he was summoned to Police he was not under arrest. However, MP Riyaz was taken to MPS on a vehicle of the agency.

MP Riyaz’s residence was searched at around 2130hrs under a court order.

The order issued stated that MP Riyaz was accused of spreading false stories, create dissent among public and interfere in Police procedures as well as defame the Police.

The warrant further said that MP Riyaz’s residence, laptop and mobile phone will be searched.

The warrant was issued by Criminal Court Judge Adam Arif.
