Discussions have been held on advancing the positive momentum in the partnership between Maldives and India.
The discussions were held on Monday, during a courtesy call paid on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel by the new High Commission of India to the Maldives, G. Balasubramaniam.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Congratulating the new high commissioner on presenting his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldivian minister shared views on fostering the positive momentum in the partnership both countries have been enjoying.
Minister Khaleel highlighted the long-standing close friendship between India and the Maldives and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian people and the Maldivian government for the assistance provided by the government of the neighboring country to the Maldives.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that discussions were held on ways to maintain and further strengthen the close relationship between the two countries and the progress that has been made recently.
During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the Maldivian foreign minister for the warm welcome and assured that he would work closely with the government of Maldives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for both countries.
The meeting was joined by Foreign Secretary Fathmath Inaya, Ambassador at Large Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Joint Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Zuhuree, Director Ahmed Suzil and Director Aishath Shahula.

The new Indian Ambassador to the Maldives presented his credentials to President Muizzu on 6 January 2025.
