Democrats members join MDP
Shifaz, Hassan Latheef submit MDP membership forms
MDP has welcomed their return
Hassan Latheef had previously served as a Member of Parliament for the West Henveiru constituency
Their forms were submitted to the MDP office before noon on Sunday

Hassan Latheef, who resigned as the president of The Democrats, a party formed under the leadership of former President Mohamed Nasheed, and Mohamed Shifaz, who resigned as the vice president of the party, have submitted their membership forms to the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

RaajjeMV understands that the forms of the two individuals were submitted to the MDP office before noon on Sunday.

Hussain Amru, who contested as the running mate of the party in the recent presidential election, and former member Ali Azim have also signed for the main opposition party.

Following Hassan Latheef's resignation from the presidency of The Democrats on Saturday, the party's leadership has been temporarily handed over to Hussain Firushan, the Member of Parliament for Madaveli constituency in the 19th People’s Majlis assembly, and Aishath Alaika Adnan has been appointed the party's vice president.

Hassan Latheef had previously served as a Member of Parliament for the West Henveiru constituency.

MDP has since welcomed the return of its former chairperson Hassan Latheef and former vice president Mohamed Shifaz to the party.
