Major Ahmed Athif, the military’s northern area commander, who was found dead on Sunday afternoon, has been lain to rest.
Athif’s family buried the late serviceman in Malé ‘Aa Sahara’ mosque, at around 23:30 on Sunday.
The veteran, who had served with the Maldives National Defence Force for over thirty years, was found dead in Hanimadhoo island of Haa Dhaalu atoll. He had not been suffering from any illnesses prior to his death, the family said.
He had made several illustrious contributions during his career, having served as a judge on ‘Voice of MNDF’, a reality talent competition hosted by the service, and was recipient of the National Service Award.
