President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reshuffled the government cabinet and merged some ministries.

The Ministry of Finance and Planning Ministry have been combined and renamed as the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Moosa Zameer has been appointed as the Minister of Finance and Planning.

In addition to this, Housing and Infrastructure have been merged, and the ministry's name has been changed to the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure. Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has been appointed as the Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

Dr. Mariyam Mariya, who was the Minister of Higher Education, has been transferred to the position of Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare. Further, Dr. Ali Haidar, who was the Minister at the former Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has been transferred to the position of Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development. Minister Mariya was transferred to Animal Welfare and Agriculture following the resignation of Dr. Aishath Rameela, who was previously in charge of that ministry, and she has temporarily taken over the management of that ministry.

This is the second time President Muizzu's government has reshuffled the cabinet. With this change made on Thursday, the government now has 21 ministries.
